Required documents, evaluation criteria and scholarship
The Political Science and International Relations Department and the Center for Islam and Global Affairs (CIGA) at Istanbul Zaim University announce that a new English language only Masters and PhD programs will commence in January 2018 (Spring semester) in a track called “Islam and Global Affairs Studies.” The program advisor is the head CIGA Prof. Dr. Sami al-Arian. Applications for these programs shall be open from November 27, 2017 until December 25, 2017. Admissions shall be announced to qualified applicants no later than January 15, 2018. Part time professional applicants are also encouraged to apply since all courses will be offered on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays by international and prominent scholars.
The requirements of these degrees are as follows:
I. Masters of Arts (MA) Degree Requirements [2 years]
A. Thesis Option
- 8 Courses (including 4 core courses)
- Seminar Course (regarding your topic of research)
- MA Thesis
B. Non-Thesis Option
- 10 Courses (including 4 core courses)
II. PhD Degree Requirements [3-4 years]
- 9 courses post Master’s degree (including core courses)
- Research Methods course
- Comprehensive exams
- Proficiency in at least 2 languages including English

“Islam and Global Affairs Studies”
at the Political Science and International Relations Department
The Center for Islam and Global Affairs (CIGA) at Istanbul Zaim University announces the availability of six (6) full scholarships in post graduate studies at the Political Science and International Relations Department in a new track called “Islam and Global Affairs Studies.” The program will be fully in the English language.
The scholarships are available for qualified Masters and PhD students inside and outside Turkey. For qualified applicants each scholarship includes full tuition for full-time students plus 1,500 TL per month for Masters students (2 years) or 2,000-2,500 TL per month for PhD students (3 years). The scholarships also require the applicants to be first admitted to the Political Science and International Relations Department at IZU (see applications links below), as well as work as research assistants and/or associates at the Center for Islam and Global Affairs (CIGA) at IZÜ for 25 hours per week.
